Tacoma 255/85 R16 Spare?

Hi guys and gals,

Anyone here ever put a 255/85 R16 tire in the normal spare tire location under the bed on a 2001-2004 Tacoma? Does it fit? Any modifications required?

No, won't fit. My 285 didn't fit. You have to cut off the downward part of the spare tire holder braket things on one side for the larger tires to fit. Then make sure you wrap the ends with something that won't cut into the tire sidewall with miles of vibration. Crawl under your rig and you'll see what I'm talking about.
