New Autohome Maggiolina/Columbus tent, the AirTop

Saw a mention of this over on IH8MUD's camping section.
It is listed on the Italian site with an animated GIF too.

Opens up like a Columbus with gas struts, but is open all the way like a Maggiolina style tent.

First time I have seen this model.
It also has a rear door besides the two on the sides.

Corey,
So now that the crank handle on your Magg Airlander has become obsolite, when will you be taking delivery of your new Autohome "Airtop" ?
(just kidding) :victory:
All joking aside, looks like a pretty sweet RTT.

are all the autohome tents from italy available in the US? Im digging the extreme forest maggioliona!

There are a lot of models and sizes. It is impossible to maintain a full stock of all models, since a container is limited in size. We try to stock the models we find most suitable and popular for the American market. But all the tents made by AutoHome are available - on special order for the ones we do not regularly stock. Just about every shipment we receive contains special orders.

Hi Mike,

Have you got a drawing of the mountig rails for the autozone ? Am getting my rack built by rover racks in the next few weeks and want to ensure that I have the bars in the correct place. The tent will open over the rear of the D2.

Cheers,
Andy

so whats the best, most economical setup for a family of 5?

two adults and three small kids?

we had a maggiolina. Loved it and sold it, cuz we obviously out-grew it.

would two side-by-side overcamp's be the only way? is there a large enough single tent that is offered? We currently ground tent it and are not going to sleep separate from our kids on a campout until they're quite a bit older.

We'd love to be autohome owners again, but not seeing a solution to our size family.

You could also try the Autohome Canada dealer. They tend to stock the European models.

That's why I built the trailer I did. The idea is basically a teardrop trailer turned sideways, for the kids, and an RTT on top for us, plus some extra storage space in front.

Hey Mike,
I was wanting to get an extreme, but now that I see this one I am thinking I like it better. Both because of the set up, and because of the bigger end windows. That said, I could not find specs on teh size, wieght and cost of this new one. Can you get that? Also, what the waiting time would be if ordered.

Thanks,

Josh

Come over to the dark side! You don't want all that weight permanently on your roof! And more storage space too...

(BTW, how DO you currently get 5 people and camping gear in an XJ?)
