The front end already got the larger Cressida rotor and calipers. But I'm MAX'd out for space under the tiny 14" rims I'm so fond of, infact, I had to buff off about 1/16" from part of those calipers.

The master cylinder is a 2 bolt unit, like the majority of Japanese units. I've got a pair of 4 pot calipers off a 4Runner I would love to fit to the car, but that's just not going to happen until I change the wheels.

Got the LSD plus the ring and pinion out of the Supra diff tonight. The gears look like brand new, even though the oil looked a bit burnt. Backlash was in the neighborhood of .006". Can't wait to have a rear axle that isn't howling ALL the time. Just have to pull the third member out of the straight axle, still waiting for the bearings and MaxGrip kit also. Then the good gears and LSD will be transplanted into the 3rd member for the straight axle.

Getting my ducks all in a row for this axle build. Got a quote for having a shop do the new bearings and setting up the final drive again. Got the bearings and LSD rebuild kit in the mail to me. And finally, got a quote from Ballistic Fab., down in Tucson, for laser cutting and CNC bending all the brackets I drew up in CAD. I had know idea it would be that reasonable, so much so, I'm planning on ordering three sets: current build, spare incase I do something dumb and the third incase I break down and build a rwd Celica rally car to compliment the Expedition version.

I got my rebuild parts from Weir last night, in the mail. MAXGrip and diff bearing kit with solid pinion spacer. By the end of the week I should have the custom made axle brackets from Ballastic. They were cutting them yesterday. And I've lined up a mechanic to do the 3rd member rebuild with LSD install. Maybe this axle install will go quicker than I thought it would.

This has always been on of my favorite vehicles. For all the times I've seen it around town, at CRS events, I really enjoyed reading the back story on it here.

Nice thing to stumble across on a Tuesday night...

Here's a picture of the Celica before the Prescott Rally last year. You certainly don't see THIS sort of thing very often.

    Thanks Brian.

I got the Supra diff rebuilt tonight, went easy enough, even with the garage at around 100 deg.. I'll call up the mechanic who's going to do the gear/diff install in the 3rd member, see if I can drop everyting off. I should have the 3rd member back next week sometime. I got the rest of the axle house dismantled and cleaned up, ready for all new brackets over the weekend.

No pictures, but I got my 3rd member back from the mechanic on Monday. Wednesday I bought the new wheel bearing and inner seals (should they be called outer seals?). Last night I shortened the axles slightly, 1/8 to 3/16" even though they probably didn't need it. And this morning I brough the axles and bearings to work, so a guy back in the shop can take them home this weekend and press the new bearings and retains on.
