Default Living Overland's Recipes, Reviews, & Techniques

I know Overland Journal has the ‘Overland Chef Recipes’ section as a blog on their website, but I have not really seen a blog dedicated to the ‘Foodie Overlander’ or ‘Foodie Camper’. My wife and I are defiantly the self-proclaimed ‘Foodie Campers’, and love to cook and eat well when we are camping. The thought hit me last night, as I was falling asleep, that I should create a blog dedicated to the topic. I see it as a place to develop recipes, discuss equipment, techniques, and pre-trip preparation. I am always taking pictures and comparing recipes with friends, and I figure I can use this to collaborate on a broader scale.

What do you think? I am thinking about calling it ‘The Camping Gourmet’, although ‘The Splendid Camp Table’ has a better ring to it! Too bad I don’t feel like getting into a trademark battle with Lynne and NPR.

    Sounds good.
I actually like to eat better when I camp than I do at home.
Reason is all that fresh air and scenery heightens ones senses making food all the better tasting.

Thanks everybody! I have never done anything like this before, so it will be an adventure. Does anybody have any recommendations or suggestions when it comes to blogs? Where is the best place to set one up?

I look forward to reviewing my gear and recipes as well as reviewing others!!!

Here is a 'taste' of new things to come:
    Ginger Green Beans
    Wine Poached Pairs

As well as a couple of of old standbys:

Just do a basic one on blogspot, then if it gets too big, you can expand later and move it. Good idea

Made the cashew beef as a dry run at home this weekend. Very easy, and quite tasty. Definitely will be added to our collection of camping meals.

Glad to hear you guys enjoyed the recipe!

We are working on some appetizers you can whip up on the trail. We made some up for a recent cooking class my wife taught and they were great!

Corey, you will be happy to know we are working on a couple of vegetarian meals as well!

Are there any types of recipes you guys are interested in seeing?

Not that you haven't before, but stuff with curry in it.

Keep up the great work, Beau.
