OK, I have seem modification/rebuilds of the 1050 model, but nothing on the 1040.
Has anyone done any upgrades to a 1040 to help it out ?

Pretty much all the stuff here http://expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31853 should apply. If yours has the "reed in piston" like the Horror Fright, they have decent reeds and the rivets can be replaced with a 4-40 button head cap screw after porting. At a minimum, upping the power leads to 12g and soldering all power connections should yield a noticeable bump. The 1050s and HF units use a REALLY bad fuse holder, most have very loose connections from the get go.
Do you have a pic of the thing?

A fun old thread.

I know it's not about modding an air compressor. Don't ask me....I bet I couldn't even Mod an Electric Toothbrush! Just fun to look back at the small compressor topic, and see how people feel about these very small compressors.

Feeling Nostalgic tonight!....:costumed-smiley-007

I bought two and gave one to my dad. Actually I bought about a half a dozen and sent them to friends. Mine is still kicking and doing fine. No shut downs yet. I had to replace the hose though. I just recently bought the two piston version of the same pump for my project Cruiser as it has 37s.
