Stupid question: How do I mount my new/used Hannibal tent to my rack?

I have a Hannibal rack mounted to my 80 series Cruiser and just picked up a Hannibal tent with the ladder that mounts to the bull bar. I realize that that tent bolts to my rack and i have that part down, but how to i actually go about actually bolting it down. To do so requires the tent to be opened right? So if i open it up, what is stopping it from flying off the rack and onto my hood ? And if it doesn't fly off the rack and i am able to get it attached to my ARB bumper, is it safe to climb up the ladder, get in the tent, drill some holes and then bolt it down ?
