Here's some views on how that went...
used a piece of 3/16" for the plate work...
I also swapped out the lug mounting nuts (seen here) for locking style lug nuts...
got 4 included in 'da purchase of these...
so... I put one up front to secure the spare tire as well.
before 'da weld work...
weld work complete
still have to finish up the chains that will be securing the fuel cans in the carrier... as well as throwing some paint at 'er...
and then I can call it done.
How she's sittin' for 'da moment...
obviously went with the high mount design...
and I'm good with that decision...
my junk getting a nose in 'cause she's not getting much attention as of late.
~ honorable mention... got a bit a house keeping done too ! ~
stay tuned... will be finishing up the fuel mount stuff shortly.![]()

chain security, getting fab'd up...
~ whaddaya think of my miniature weld table ~
^ zinc coated...
or should I use this poly coated yeller stuff ?
fuel cap security... fo' 'da semi-honest peeps
'nother view... and mo' plastic end caps... weeee !
and another idea i'm playin' wit'...

completed the Scepter MFC carrier...
was late in the evening as I wrapped 'er up, so artificial light was the call.
I farked up a Lil' bit... as the locks were suppose to go to the forward side...
but I got 'er confused in my head after I got side tracked a bit...
and then didn't think again, to realize... 'til is was too late
Never the less... it stays. just need to sleeve 'da chains and it's the end of this chapter.
~ the one thing I haven't finished/decided about 'dis carrier ~
well the two center'd vertical tubes are not welded in yet. ( V this pictar )
wasn't sure if I wanted those there :dunno:
instead... was thinking of making the voids in the center of the carrier,
capable of carrying a few odds and ends... maybe somewhat boxed in with some light sheet... oh I dunno...
I'll think about that for a day or so...
Think I'll be done with projects for a Lil' bit...
time to get ready for 'da Moab
thanks for following along on this stage of my trailer's journey![]()
Great build, some really great ideas backed up with great fab work.
Can't wait to see action pics from Moab
^ thanks grimbo... looking forward to 'dat Moab fun !

thought I'd finish 'da show, in sharing how those chain sleeve's look installed...
and the trailer's overall appearance at this stage of the game.
just incase anyone wondered...
chose blk 'cause it was all I could find local
Red was my first choice... and may get swapped to that later when I come across some.
U might also notice... I installed one lock upside down on it's shackle (2nd pic down)
at first I 'bout chit... then came to realize that they won't lock when installed upside down... whew !

Great minds-
I came across a larger wheel and pneumatic tire from my jack. If I recall correctly, the swap was not too difficult. I drilled the rivet from the caster , trimmed the bolt flange around the bearing channel and bolted it to the removable foot on the jack.
I had been looking for a larger tire for the jack and just could not find one. The hard plastic wheel that is readily available works, but the diameter being small makes it difficult to maneuver on rough surfaces like gravel. My hope is that this will work better.
If it fails I can always go back to the solid plastic wheel. I will have gained a better swivel bearing and some height in the new yoke and that will be a plus.

This latest update is about my methods of beefing up the earlier WWII style frames, more akin to the later M416 trailer.
and for the resto freaks...
it could all just be cut back off... no sweat.
Pics of what I did to strengthen my M100 chassis.
Here's what it looks like in oem config.
Material cost... $12.00 :saw::welder:
In this pic U can see that I have now boxed in the upper shock mount support inside the newly built channel frame...
it will additionally get a few welds to the plates to keep things in place.
I think... or at least hope... this'll hold 'da fort. !? :dunno:
threw some paint on 'er... and called it good.
first two pics depict the Shock mnt rivet(s) and location where the rail(s) cracked and failed...
in re-welding the frame cracks, the head of the rivet gets integrated as well (welded in)
sooo... had to reshape the welded rivet heads as best I could,
and they're good enough for now.
* there's a little extra weld left where the cracks were... if U might see that in 'da pics
no time fo' gettin too fancy... time to bolt everything back together
likely 'da paint wil be dry come 'morrow.
rain in 'da forecast tho' :dunno:
Now the question is... will it be enough ?
Here's to hoping![]()
