I got mine at LCI. Get 3 for free shipping and then give one to your adventure buddy as a gift :D

I've gotten both of mine from Brigade Quartermaster and the price is OK. What makes up for it is their customer service, fast shipping and flawless product. The Scepter cans are super tough and the $30 cans will last my lifetime.

Full they are a bit heavy so I made a spout for mine.

Other than marked for water, how do they differ from the tan fuel (diesel) CANS? Looks the same to me.

Thanks for the tip on buying 3 for the shipping deal!

MWC vs. MFC:

- single vs. three handles (makes it easy to tell the difference in the dark)
- different cap with ~1" spout plus vent
- No gasket
- Made from certified FDA-approved for potable water materials
- "Water" vs. "Fuel" markings

I really like that spout. I had been thinking about something similar, but I figured I'd try to find something that could use the existing threads on the lid.

Did you get most of the spout supplies at West Marine? I'm going to do something like that and sometimes the hardest part of a project is sourcing the materials.

All the spout parts are from Home Depot.

One short section of 1/2" sprinkler pipe, one ball valve and one "funky" pipe. The funky pipe, I think it's what it's called, is for applications where solid rigid pipe won't work and it can be found in the sprinkler isle.

When I got my first MWC I went to HD looking for a spout or things to make one with and found nothing. I didn't want anything too complicated, something that would leak or need tools for on/off and this is what I came up with about a year later.

This is the tap and die set I used.

I used the 20% coupon so it was cheap. The 1/2 tap fit in (although a little tight) without drilling. I tapped it out and threaded my spout parts in. To keep things solid I JB welded the spout parts together to ensure they all come out together and so I don't get the little section stuck in the lid (came close a couple times).

Thanks for posting that Jim. You are right about that for sure.

And the 4x4mike spout mod is awesome. I really need to try to make one.

I like this thread.

I've never shopped for a MFC but was on eBay the other night and saw a brand new one with 9 bids, the highest being $93. I didn't think they are really that rare as there were plenty for sale (used) on the Bay that night. I think trouble is getting them shipped to CA.

Thanks for the lead Mike. I just got back from the store with all the bits to make the spout. I've tapped the first water jug and it looks like I didn't mess it up to badly. Easy peasy.

Scepter will not ship them to the US and to my knowledge all states have stopped the sale of them because the silly Claifornia CARB laws are so admired elsewhere. Before the piepline dried up you could score them for $25 to $35
