Who carries these?

I was looking at the above stick on gear list and got to thinking. On all the gear lists I did not see anything dealing with alternators and water pumps.
Am I the only one who carries extra critical engine replacement parts?

I carry a spare starter and water pump (both new), old radiator hoses, Fan belts, spark plugs, spark plug wires and distributor cap. I also carry an extra CV Axel (99 4Runner) or Birfield joint (85 4runner) , depending on what vehicle I am using. I also carry a bunch of other stuff I have never used, but I rather have it with me and not use it rather than break down and wish I brought it along.

I dont carry an alternator because I am pretty sure I could get back to civilization with the battery reserve and my jump battery if I had too (but I could be wrong).

I may have a little overkill but I carry parts in the jeep for short trips and more in the trailer for longer trips.

I would argue that it is pretty vehicle specific, ie with some vehicles I have literally never seen nor experiences an alternator or waterpump failure and the tradeff of packing one along and the complicated task in some cases to swap out weighs the ability to have one air-freighted to just about anywhere in the world in a matter of days. That said if your vehicle of choice has a 'track record' of failed alternators or mortal water pumps, I wouldn't hesitate to pack them along so long as your actually prepped to handle the install in the field. For the long lived 5VZFE (Tacoma 3.4) you would be pretty hard presses to field install one without a pretty epic tool collection, that said they rarely fail and are often replaced at their 1/2 life during a timing belt replacement, thus a non-issue.
