Starcraft Pine Mountain 800

I was daydreaming and browsing for pop up campers. I came across Starcraft just to see what they offered. I really like the floor plan of their Pine Mountain 800 seen here:



If you look closely, you can see that the toilet/shower is under a seat to complete the dinette. It's hard to see, but look close at these pictures and you can see it in action. This is exactly what I have seen a number of guys do as a mod to their bathroomless camper, it makes total sense.




My question is, why are more manufacturers not also doing this!? So much space is always wasted for a bathroom area that is only used what, 2% of the time? I would really like to see this incorporated in a more durable camper like ATC or FWC (HINT HINT!).

Anybody have one of these? Thoughts/Experiences?

Nice floorplan! Like the fridge across from the kitchen up front. very "open".

My big question, and MOST important, would be how this munufacturer and their models hold up to "normal" camper offroading. Miles and miles of washboard roads, occasional obstacles, wind, etc.. What are real user experiences of the Starcraft brand builds?

After I know how the camper will handle use, then i consider the floorplan.
My research has led me to the Hallmark, Northstar, and 4wheelcamper brands. I am always open to a new idea?

BTW- Hallmark is now placing a cassette toilet under the dinette seat.

That is a nice floor plan. I've seen that type of bathroom before I think in a Fleetwood pop up camper. I don't know anything about this company.

I've seen many many Starcraft pop up tent trailers through the years, but not any truck campers. It looks to me like they have the typical plywood/composite construction of any other truck camper you would expect to fall apart after hard offroad use. My question here is, why can't the "tough" camper makers do this also! Especially since those are typically smaller/lighter campers with LESS space, this makes total sense for them.

Paging FWC... If this was available in the Hawk my wife would be sold on it. She has an issue with the lack of a shower in most offroad campers, including our Kamparoo. Long trips for us involve a hotel every 3rd day for showers.

I'd be more likely to look for this camper to purchase if it wasn't so darn wide! Specs show 86" wide, that's around 7" of overhang on both sides of my Ram 2500! I'm just too afraid something that wide would catch too many branches and whatnot when on a trail.

It looks to me like it could be narrowed by probably 6" and only loose a little storage space.

Plus, not a cassette toilet!

I had a neighbor that had a coleman pop up with a bath /shower like the one pictured and whenever it was used the condensation made the entire inside damp.they hated having moist bedding so they ended up selling and getting a regular travel trailer with enclosed bath.just a heads up.

Sounds like they needed to turn on a fan and/or open a window or two for ventilation...

The Pine Mountain 800 is a pop up but it's way bigger then the FWC hawk. What I would like to see in a FWC is a built in shower pan in the floor in which you could remove a top hatch and have about a 4 inch high shower pan in which you could store the shower curtains and what not. Basically what sportsmobile offers (see recessed shower) The problem with this is the ceiling would then be about 4-5 inches lower and in order to reclaim that interior height it would take a bit of a redesign on FWC's part.

Phoenix RV has a similar bathroom option as the Pine Mountain but not in the really short campers.
