Gas tank question

Just got a new fuel tank for my RN75 p/u. It came unpainted with kinda oil/grease coating, I guess to protect it from corrosion while in stock. So before installing, will it be a good idea to degrease it then paint it (good anticorrode paint)?... or just leave it as is? Suggestions anyone? Yes obviously this is the first time I'm replacing a tank :)

I wouldn't think it a bad idea...

whom would want a dirt magnet ?

Soap and water maybe ? if ya skip the paint.

The best way.

If you want to really want to do it right, clean the inside and out with a degreaser and then paint the exterior with POR15. You will never have to worry again.
