I like these LED cluster lights from Rigid for such an application.
They were originally designed as a dome light but they can be applied anywhere. They are less than $50 each and they may sell them for less withougt the billet mounting plate.
These are what I used and I love them and hey.... 8 pods for 80 bucks (when I got mine, looks like they went up in price though) seems like a good deal. I've been using them for 2 years and no problems so far!
At that price, you may as well buy them directly from Sierra Expeditions (about the same price) especially since they're an ExPo forum sponsor.
I've seen them on a buddy's rig and wheeled with him at night. More than enough light for night time rock crawling. High speed driving at night... well perhaps those $$ options would be preferable.
I think if you're going to put something under teh car, it might as well be cheap, right?
I can see spending big cash on forward facing lights to save your ******** in go-fast, but most guys with HIDs I talk to say they have to turn them off in the rocks if going slow because they blind everyone.
