Four-wheel drive and 4-door crew cab options. Sterling uses Mercedes-Benz powertrains, too, don't know if that's what we'll get.

I believe it will be a rebadged Mitsubishi Fusu which is also owned by Daimler Benz.

You think? The website says it's a conventional cab.
HINO is doing a nice conventional truck these days. I think it combines most of the best qualites of cabover and conventional designs, but no 4x4 or crew cab.

-just did a little research on the topic, turns out the new medium-duty Sterling is a rebadged Dodge Ram. Great truck and some new changes for '07 but nothing really out of the ordinary.
i saw this and a more recent one that mentions the mexico market

Asian markets get a cab-forward Hino with 4x4. The Hino Pro Ranger FT and GT models offer 4x4 in two wheelbase lengths, with single cab and crew cab options. These trucks regularly run the Dakar Rally.
You can read about Hino at this Australian web site

Yet another example of a cool vehicle that is not imported to USA.

Here are a few more photos of rompin' stompin' Hinos
at the Dakar. Both van body and canvas-covered body
are illustrated.

My truck, a '98 SG, is similar to the white one crossing the river (older body style) -except it's 2wd and has the same size tires as any other 15t delivery truck on the street.
For the time being, I'm working on the interior/heating/cooking/etc.
Eventualy, I'd like to explore the possibility of doing somthing similar to what RUF (MitsuFG builder) is doing with the Mitsubishi FM (off the shelf 2wd 15t delivery truck).![]()

It might take awhile.

Reminds me of this... it's a Ford F750 that was parked out in front of my house a few weeks ago. Let's just say Electricians cashed in on the demand around here - they were doing some work on the neigbours.
This thing is big, 4wd and built like a tank.
