Ok looking at getting a disco for expo vehicle, im in seattle are so there seems to be no shortage of used discos around. But ive ben reading for couple of weeks and cant figure out which year has the best combination of features (center dif lock, ect) and the least chances of problems. i know its a land rover and it is not going to be reliable untill i do all the correct maintanance and get used to it, i would just hate to buy one and find out if i had bought 1 year newer it would have had this widget and not this one.

And on a final note if i cant seem to find a disco i want i will prob just go to uk and buy a 90 defender and import(25 or older)

thanks

Theres lots of disco's out there alreaded kitted that are quite cheap, if your gonna splash on a LR90 from Europe, you have 2 options either buy an unrestored tdi upgraded example (usually available on Ebay), or go to a specialist company and have one built to your specs (this can be expensive). Remember with the first option (ebay) European vehicle suffer with rust problems at any age over 10 yrs old.
IMG00307 is an example of a typical 25 ur old 2.495N/A diesel 90
101 4672 is an example of a refurbished 300tdi 90.

No US disco will be a simple as a UK spec 90/110. That being said, it will be LHD and 10+ years newer.

I was always partial to 94/95 discos as I like 14CUX better, but my choice would be a 96/97 SD with manual seats as the 96/97 manual seats move back more (I am tall) and a 5 speed (I had both a 96 5 speed and a 96 auto -- Both SDs -- auto is more reliable, but the truck comes alive with a 5 speed).

I just bought a 1983 110 with a Diesel Turbo on ebay for cheap (I wanted the winch and 110 regular hardtop and bed off it) if you want a project I would sell it cheap and throw in a 109 SW rear tub in.

109 station wagon tubs are the same size as 110 station wagon rear tubs, just have different wheel arches. PM me with your email address.

I am outside philadelphia.
