pot and pans

One guy over on Mud's site suggested putting the pan in the oven upside down as to avoid a sticky goo of polymerized oil.
They did not mention that in the instructions, but it may have helped.
I am ordering another omelet pan today, and will try it out next weekend without seasoning it.

Some additional pictures.

Whole set minus the two lids laid out

All nestled together, and the omelet pan goes underneath the top most pan which is the lid when nested together

You can reuse the packing foam sheets they packed it together when shipped to help protect it when in transport

The one lid seems to have captured three of my guitars on the wall :D
Very shiny lid.

Anybody want to buy a good used set of teflon coated Magmas?

Great review. Looking forward to seeing how they last.

In case you missed it, you might want to check out how I store my set using felt cloth. Even though the ceramic is tough, I'd think it's still a good idea.

Coming into this thread a little late but I love the idea of a pot thread. Almost as much as I loved the axe thread. I love getting just the right set of cooking gear.

I went to a few thrift stores in Arizona this summer, and managed over the course of a few days to put together a set of quality stainless pots and pans that all nested together. They were all mix and match but the end setup worked really well.

The second best part of getting them from the thrift store was I didn't feel bad taking the handles off some of them so they nested properly.

The best part was that I had a 5 or 7 Litre pot (can't remember), 2 pans, a steamer tray, and a smaller pot, all nesting with room for my cutlery and a universal gripping-handle, all for about 6 bucks.

So, I may have lucked out, but I really like the idea of going to thrift stores and repurposing some cool pots and pans (and cutting the occasional handle off) for a few dollars vs buying new stuff just for camping. I am really trying to get away from the idea that I need special stuff to carry in my truck, or that I need to spend big bucks to have fun in the wilderness.

Nothing against the Magma set, it looks awesome, and actually pretty good value for the money, considering the cost of new quality cook-wear these days.

Anyways, the next time I am at the OJ offices (hopefully in the next couple of months) I will dig them out of my storage tub and take some pics.

Cheers

Ray

I think I remember seeing the pics of the felt, I will dig back here and take a look.

Cooked up some soup for lunch yesterday in the smallest pot, and afterwards it just wiped out with a paper towel.
This Ceramica coating is indeed truly non stick.

I am giving my first Magma set to my youngest son.

ATTENTION:

I heard back from Magma today, and they are taking out of the instructions to "season" them in the oven.
There is no need to do this.
So if you buy a set, DO NOT SEASON THEM!

I am retiring my kitchen Lodge cast iron to storage, as well as the 8" saute pan I use to use to cook eggs in when camping.
My second omelet pan showed up today, and no, I did not season it :D

Washed it, dried it, and I will be making an omelet again for Saturday.
Nothing like having your food not stick to the pan, and so easy to clean.
Especially when camping, I do not want to spend more time than I need to during cleanup.

If I camp at Rainier again this summer, I will have the best looking cookset up there :D
This really is a premium set.
Almost thinking of getting another set for the kitchen.

I have another set of those dishes with a different design in my chuckbox for camping.
I really like that dishware, been using that brand for 30+ years.

I contacted Magma today. I'm thinking about becoming a dealer. My primary business is accessories for Jeep JK's but when I see a good value for offroad enthusiasts, I look to see if I can offer it. I currently offer Wiggy's Sleeping Bags and Nebo Flashlights. I'm going to buy a set of these and test them. If they are solid, I'll see about a group buy here :)

Hey Wood's, that would be cool.
Should only take you a day or so to get them since they are also in CA.

Just found out what those Magmas cost. OUCH! Guess I'll stick with my hand-me-down pans for a while. Still want them... this could get me in trouble with the Mrs.

Expensive yes, but buy only once.
They are nice and thick, and they look like they will last a long time, and may be the last set you ever need to buy.
