Ultimate GPS: NASA World Wind GPSTracker?
I have, of late, become completely addicted to NASA World Wind software. If you haven't tried it yet, I suggest you check it out... http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/ though I suppose many have.
Has anyone tried to use the GPSTracker plugin in concert with the downloadalble cache packs (http://www.worldwinddata.com/)for a remote (no internet) real time, LANDSAT aerial, 3D GPS solution? My buget precludes me from my dreams of a sunlit touchscreen carputer, but I am attempting to get it to work with my laptop. Any experience with this, or anyone with a carputer willing to give it a try?
I am not extremely computer savvy, but I imagine there must be a way to either collect or reorganize the USGS 7.5" topo from the USGS free server to overlay as well...
Just imagine, realtime photoreal 3D, accurate sun position and shadows, like a DeLorme on steroids. All you need now is a BGAN broadband SAT connection for realtime Naval Reasearch Labs IR Radar and other meterological data overlay...
