New to the site, figured I'd post my M416 build:elkgrin:

Started with a mostly stock M416, other than the lunette being cut down, and a 2" ball hitch welded on.:(

Did a spring over and stuck on a set of 31" tires from my CJ:

Extended the parking brake cable attatchments:

Extended the fenders to cover the back space of the aftermarket wheels and 10.5 wide tires:

My dad helped build the wooden top:

Which I later ended up covering with aluminum, to weatherproof it better:

Built some beefy hinges:

Added a RTT on some home fabbed bars:

Added a 12V deep cycle battery and small propane tank in front:

And my dad got busy in the woodshop, and built a table for the back. Perfect for cooking, making coffee, etc:

And the table stores in the lid, so it's always easy to access:

Still plan to add a fridge/freezer and a water tank, along with a rear reciever and a few other little do-dads.

So far, everything done to the trailer is reversible, in case I ever decide to return it to original condition to tow behind my flatty:victory:

Struts for the top:

Biggest ones I could find at the parts store. They will lift the top when the tent is open, and make it easier to lift when the tent is packed up.

Latches for lid:

Also have a large padlock hasp in the center, to keep things secure.

Top can still be opened when the tent is up, as long as no one is sleeping inside!:wings:

Welcome to the site Bill, I have seen you on other Jeep sites. This is the place to be.

Thanks!

Yeah, this site is awsome! Been doing a lot of reading here, great stuff!

I hit quite a few Jeep sites, (Hill, Bill E. on all of them as well) but none have the diversity and info like this one does!:coffeedrink:

Man! sweet build. I would love more details on the lid. I bought an M101A2 and its huge so no regular methods of cover like toneauu or snugtop will fit it. I like the wood with metal skin approach. I have no seen it previously.

What type of wood did you use? any other details appreciated.
