201 DII Brake pedal travel question

I'm just a few days into driving my new-to-me 2001 Discovery. After I bought it, I parked it in the garage and went on a photoshoot in Canada for a week. I am getting used to the difference in the feel of the controls. The brakes are very effective, but there seems to be more travel or take-up in the brake pedal before actuating the brakes. Is this a normal condition for a Disco or does it mean I need to work on the brakes? I haven't taken a wheel off yet to inspect the brakes yet.

the '01 had an issue with a soft brake pedal...bleeding helps but the fix is a ABS modulator from a '03 or '04
