Extensible automation for Android, from, of all places, Microsoft. (does Balmer know about this? )

    https://www.onx.ms/#!landingPage

Enables automation of tasks or actions based on triggers, e.g. location, time, telemetry, etc.

    Extensible via JavaScript.

It's like Motorola Razr Smart Actions on extensible steroids.

I wonder how it compares to Lama. Lama's location is cell tower based, not GPS. I use it to turn on/off the Wifi as I enter/leave home, turn off Bluetooth when I discontect my headphones. Turn on BT when I get to the train station, etc.

Backcountry Navigator allows the import of garmin map sources as well, for me it means i can run Backroad mapbook maps for BC which are far superior to anything else available

I'm very surprised by this. I can't find any reference to it on their web site. Can you give me some details on how you did it?

Here's a decent price for an Android box with GPS chip: Samsung Galaxy 5.0, factory refurbished, $170 with free shipping

And here are the Galaxy 5.0 specs

The Galaxy 5.0 runs Android 2.3.5 and has full access to the Google Play app store.

For a few more hours, Dell will sell the Streak 7 Android tablet for $120. This model also has a GPS chip for in-vehicle navigation.

Yes! Please share! I have some great maps for Baja that I can only use on my Garmin device right now. If I can get it into BC Nav I would be SO FREAKING HAPPY!!!!!! It might even finally convince me to get a droid tablet instead of an Ipad.....

Should a company design its own user interface, or use the stock Android interface? Companies with deep pockets often choose to make their own, figuring it will distinguish the company's Android products from the rest of the market. Maybe the most successful is the Touch UI interface installed by Samsung.

Now Sharp has collaborated with frog design to create a fresh look called "Feel UX" for Android. Here's a video intro and discussion with the chief designer
