    Default Dimo's 2004 Xterra build

Well, long story short, I ended up not moving. The good news is that not moving opened up a lot of opportunities to mod the truck and so I did.

I just got a profile on Clubxterra and i figured I'd add one here considering the time I spend here drooling over everyones rig. Another reason I figured I'd do this is cause in about 40 days I'll be driving from Pa to Ca and this is an expo site and that'll be a heck of an expedition. For starters then, I just traded in the old rig for a 2004 Lightning Silver Nissan Xterra XE. Upon purchase, the truck had a Shrockworks winch bumper in grey and had 265/70R17 BFG A/Ts wrapped around SC wheels. It also has a red top under the hood and a heavy duty alternator. So far I've added my Hella 700s and extinguisher out of the old truck and plan to add the cobra cb and get a 3 or 4 foot antenna to go with it. In the works: removing nerf bars and adding sliders (probably Shrockworks), Shrock rear bumper with tire carrier, skid plates (Skid Row or Shrock), and some type of lift in the 3 in range (any suggestion?). That's about it for now, and this is gonna be a slow build, but I'll try and keep this theard as updated as I can.

Thanks! And I've got lots of family in Ca and none out here and my father's job has him moving out there. Plus his company is willing to pay for my gas/mileage as well as lodging for the trip so I jumped on the chance for an awesome road trip. Also I'm 21 and pretty much broke now so why not right? So far I plan to stop at the Air Force base my brother's stationed at in S. Dakota. Everything else I've slacked off and still need to plan.

Sounds like a fun trip you have coming up!

With the 1st generation Xterra (and Frontier), the primary lift component suppliers are Automotive Customizers, Total Chaos and Calmini. You're limitted to about 2.5 to 3 inches of lift because of the CV angle related to the front differential. The front differential can be lowered a small amount using excentric bushings (Energy Suspension), which is a big plus.

Don't forget to get a steering system upgrade as well. The WD22 and W22 are prone to busting tie rod ends and other items in the steering if not beefed up. This usually happens when the throttle is being hammered and a shock load snaps the TRE.

You're looking at significant added weight from bumpers and armor so you're on the right track on thinking through suspension upgrade options.

You have a tone of options on what to see along the way. Ouray, Moab, Death Valley, all depends on where in Ca. and how much time you have.
lifted, locked and shrocked, what else is there?

Haha nope, no HP adding stickers at all. I'm not too happy with how it looks, but it gets the job done for now.

Not to bring up an old thread but,
just out of curiosity, why the Calmini torsion bars?
I know they have a firmer rate, is it to compensate for the bumper? Does it lift the front end?

    Thanks!
    P.S. beautiful Xterra!

You want a firm TB to help with the weight of the bumper.. Your stock TB's will lift the truck as is
