I guess I haven’t visited ericsxj.com in quite a while. I knew he rattle canned it beige but I was surprised (read saddened) to see the rig doorless and exo’d. Not that I am against exoskeletal cages but it is beginning to look sorta “rode hard”.

I am a big admirer of Erics. I bought and read (multiple times) his book before I purchased my XJ. I still dig the rig, I guess I just need to come to grips that it is built for a far different purpose than mine. Might I add that his XJ is a verrrry well built rig. Eric is a perfectionist, no detail goes undone.

Too bad you arent closer Brian.. i could spray yours as a twin.

A few things were being changed recently, sold off heavy rear bumper, wheels, attempting to lighten it up.

What's the black panel on the rear 1/4 for? Is it a patch, or a mounting plate?

Rear 1/4 armor. Its an area that once damaged, can't be fixed easily at all.

It covers an area that is often pivoted accidentally into rocks or tree's while on a tougher backcountry trail.

Everything fore of that area: front door, back door, fender, etc can be fixed or replaced very easily.
