Default Where to mount the solar controller?

I have been contemplating the location of a morning star solar controller, and have probably given it too much thought, but where have you guys thought of mounting or have mounted your solar controllers? Mine is not rated for the high temps of the engine bay so I am considering the left side of the DS floor panel area, high side and out of the way. Secondly, do you hardwire this controller into the #1 battery or leave the plug attached for disconnect purposes.

    Any suggestions are welcomed,

Hmm...Never gave the temperature rating a thought but I did mount mine under the hood. So far no problems and living in AZ its been tested.

Under the hood Velcro'd to a fusebox forward of the battery.
No problems with heat at all for the past few years.
