I know the same guy and CYi5 is right, they're noisy. The noise starts around 25 mph and gets pretty loud at freeway speeds.

They're loud. Plain and simple. But a great tire and well worth it. Very hard wearing and very tough carcass.

I switched to AT's cuz I DD my rigs, but a rig that see's a lot of dirt would do fine with the MT's.

I'm not a skinny tire fan myself (which is pretty obvious in the articles), but they're still spectacular tires. Yes they're loud.

    Just a quick update...

After a LOT of debating, I decided to order the 235/85r16 Crawler M/T with Kedge Grip.

I should have them in around 4 weeks, and will post updates with daily driver performance and all that. Heck, for juuust over $400 for 4 tires shipped to my door, I figured what the heck.

Once I get the tires, I am going to have my stock wheels stripped and powder coated black. The finish is starting to bubble up on them, and I found a place locally that will coat'em for $50 each. Again, cheap enough to say what the heck and get it done.

    Ok first off

    I LOVE my TreadWrights

I had a set of 31 1050s on my TJ (Back when the company was called Hi Tech Retread) and I loved them, I will flat out admit that I neglected them and drove past there point, AND THEY were still great tires. The company has great customer service and makes a great product.

So when I started the build on my Trooper I went with Treadwrights in that size and I still love them. They are not that noisy (But my only other experience with a big tire was a set of 33 12.50 Pro-Comp MT's on a full size Bronco, and these tires are definitely quieter than that)

Here are some pics of the tires mounted

glad to hear more good reviews about these. i'm probably going to get the 285/65/18's bfg at pattern when i need new tires. can't really beat the price (about half what a new bfg would be)

Never used the TW's but I run cutters on my ZJ and you will find that most people that say not to go that way are using them in rock. Skinny tires do not have as wide a patch when aired down and therefore do not have the sideways slip resistance on big rocks that a 12.50 or bigger have. I am running 235/85R16 MTR-K now but had 33x12.50x15's before. The cutters give better mileage, better wear and better general driving. I find that they work fine, aired down, in sand, dirt, mud and most general off road ares, but it is true that the skinnies do not wrap around and grip the rocks as well as a wide tire. I am moving from rock crawling to a more expedition based wheeling so the change was great for me. Like I said, I think this is why most people complain about cutters

For everyone running the AT's, how loud are they? Just curious if you're happy with them...this is a smoking deal compared to what I've been shopping for.

31x10.50R15 gets real spendy when you need to buy 6 of them

Everything I have read (not personal experience) has said they are VERY similar to the BFG A/T. I had the BFG A/T's a few years ago, and they were good, not loud at all. Basically no more noise than anything else, but they did feel more "firm" or "rough" on the highway...with a higher load rating.

Yeah, I've been leaning towards BFG A/T's for a while, but paying half their price is very appealing. I'm almost considering going with 4 BFG's mounted, with 2 spare treadwrights. I could always justify it as "going green"?
