Default LED lantern for camping (not for inside of tent)

Saw the tent light thread, but I am wanting a new one for outside.

I have the 12 LED remote lantern I bought from Cabelas a few years ago.
They make a 24 LED one too.

I am not very impressed with the light output of the 12 LED one, and the reviews for their 24 LED are a bit better.

I seem to have lost my remote for my current one, so I will use it at home during power outages, but I want a better one with remote for camping.
I do use a propane lantern too that I use at night by the campfire to read with, but I like having one on the awning so when I get up to go near the rig I can see.

Browsing Amazon they seem to have a few nice ones with remotes.

This [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Nichia-Lumens-Lantern-Light-equipped-Control/dp/B0045W9Y0Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1289060462&sr=8-2"]Nichia 230 Lumens LED Lantern[/ame] looks pretty impressive at that output, and can also be hung upside down for use in a tent, not that I would use it that way, my tent has a 12v light built in, although I am looking later at replacing it for a brighter one too.

No reviews yet on the one above, anyone familiar with it?

That is pretty cool, have not seen that one before.
Does it also have an on/off switch?

I did pick up a few landscape LED lights that are solar powered, I saw a guy using them for lighting around his camp.
They go into the ground with a spike.
Thinking about placing those at the bottom of my tents ladder.

The one you have are you impressed with the light output?
If so, I would get one for the awning, and maybe one for inside the crapper enclosure.

PS, I found the other video showing it has an on/off switch on top.
These are cool, I think I will order up a few.

You sold me on them, I placed an order for three of them.
Still going to order a new lantern though, perhaps the 24 LED Cabelas one.

Not a remote light, but it's been claiming to be one of the brightest LED lanterns for good while..

That Rayovac and Nichia lantern look almost identical except for the remote on the Nichia. I have a couple of the Rayovacs and they work great. Might pickup one of the Nichias with remote for inside the tent.

    Cool lighting ideas.

Thanks Ramjet, those and the solar setups look cool.

I ended up getting the 24 LED Cabelas lantern with the remote, and three of those solar Nokero bulbs.

I might look into those other ones in the future in your link since I run a 60 watt foldable solar panel.
I would just need to see if it is compatible with those battery packs the bulbs plug into.

I would have to check the connections, but I don't rule anything out with Goal Zero. I will be at the Expo in April with my rig full of Goal Zero product installed and running my Fridge and lighting.
