Little Sugar Creek is literally in my back yard, 100' from the back porch, But I don't fish it till later in the spring when the crowds die down. There was about 40 people on my property trying to hook a trout, but the Fish Commission stocked it two weeks ago when the water was near flood stage and there weren't many left to find. The guys I talked to weren't having much luck, probably due to the suck *ss weather we've been having. Cold and snow is gone well beyond the annoyance stage around here. I'll hit the stream in a few weeks, working from a dirt road up the creek aways and fish down through the Game Lands (6000 acres) till I come to my house and see how it goes. Most people aren't willing to trek that far, takes a good day if you aren't just rushing through.

My son and i havent gone yet either, we will in another two weeks or so.

Around here the only anglers having any luck are fishing the put&take in lakes, the streams have all muddied. After the weather the last two days they have probably been washed out to the Delaware River.

Ahhh opening day. I remember that when I lived back east. Out west it's nice to be able to fish year round for anything but I do miss that opening day. Kind of makes it special.

You know I'm not really sure, Most of the first day fisherman are after the stocked trout, browns, rainbows, and palaminos. It use to be that a stocked trout was a tasteless bag of mush and was dummer then a rock, but I'll give the Fish Comission credit for breeding better trout over the last few years.
The first day/week for us is more about taking the kids fishing, we don't get real serious about our trout fishing till the weather warms up then we hit some of the non stocked streams and fish for native brookies. YUM! I don't remember a time their wasn't a season, I've never really thought about it, though it was probably because of our nasty winter weather. This sounds like a question my daughter would come up with, I think I'll do some research and get meself an answer.

Butter, lemon, salt and pepper, fry her up right on the stream bank, yum. I had a lousy first day on the stocked steams, but spent last Saturday morning on the Little Juniata and killed them There are some nice browns near Greer School.
