noob, 97 4 door tahoe

Hi all, first post, i just turned 18 and still in highschool so build will be slow but steady, my truck is a 97 tahoe 4x4 4 door, around a month ago my 4l60e went out, so i got on cragslist and started looking, found a nv3500 to go in its place, so im sure this is one of the few whove done the swap, i was very succsesful with it, me and one friend did it in 2 nights, thats droping the auto, mounting the clutch pedel, and instaling the manual with new transfer case, not many upgrades besides that, i put on a set of 33/12.50/15s about 5 months ago, mainly because all we have in my area is mud and i love to play in it, but they ride horrible and no lift they scrub a good bit, so im in the process of getting rid of them, so any questions about her feel free to ask, oh and incase you were wondering i love to travel off road, my daily commute cosistes of a 27 mile dirt road, and 4 miles highway to and from school, when i got her she had 163xxx on the clock, that was last dec, as of now that has been increased to 253xxx, i honestly dont know what to say, you all have so many adventures to tell and gear to show off, at the moment im just trying to get a job

Good work! I love the idea of a manual in a later model Tahoe :bike_rider:

i honestly dont know what to say, you all have so many adventures to tell and gear to show off, at the moment im just trying to get a job

Don't worry about fancy high dollar gear! The only thing you need to have for a great adventure is food, water, ambition and appreciation--everything else just makes it more convenient :coffeedrink:

Good looking truck! I don't know about yours....but if it gets mileage anything like mine...you're gonna need TWO jobs, haha....be careful with that mud...tons of fun but it sure likes to break parts.

well it did get horrible milage, around 5-7 highway, but with the 5 speed im getting around 15-17, im pretty sure the gears are 3.11 but not exact on that, i havent changed them and im the second owner

Great job on the swap, I have always thought about swapping out an auto for a manual. Your rear gears are probably 3.55's, as most came stock with them.

word of advice, get a clutch braket out of a 95-up k series, if you dont youll have to take a sawzall and big hammer to make room under the dash, thats the only problem we had, other than bleeding it, i know the nv3500 isnt the best transmission, but i dont rock climb, so im hopeing that it will last

tahoeMD your my insperation for building my hoe, i saw yours on cardomain and wish id have bought a nbs, your tahoe is the most amazing one i have ever seen, id take your setup over anything, the only thing i would change is throw a duramax, allison and k2500 conversion under the front

Nice job on the swap. Should have swapped in a manual shift transfer case while you were at it. The electric shift garbage is as reliable as a plastic anvil.

Mr. Larry,
i did swap in the transfercase also, i forgot to take the shifter out before i junked the truck it came out of, also, im trying to figure out how to toggle the front diff. i know it can be done, just need some advice with the wires

you may want to check out fullsizechevy.com for info on the t-case swap wiring. i've looked into it for my '00 nbs tahoe and there is some good info.
