This November, BMW sponsored a motorcycling event called the Motorrad GS Trophy. The event brought 30 riders in ten teams to southern Africa for seven days of racing on factory-prepared F800 GS bikes.

The route of the race took riders through parts of South Africa, Swaziland Mozambique. After 2000 km (about 1200 miles) of rally-style time and distance racing and special stages, the British team emerged victorious.

BMW says that 50 F800 GS models were brought to the event, and none suffered a mechanical failure. (I bet there were plenty of flat tires!)
