New Trailer

Hi, I'm new to this forum, and this is my first post and thread. I picked up this trailer recently but I am not sure what it is...or was. From searching on line the closest thing we can find is the G518 Ben hur trailer. It had rounded fender wells and this one has square ones. We were thinking they could have simply been changed by someone who likes the 416 types better. It appears to have had a tailgate that has been welded shut, then a flip down stove area was added as well (this was clearly done later and isnt original)

Does anyone have any idea what this trailer is????

Mike

Looks like an M101 or some variant thereof. These were considered a 3/4 ton utility/cargo trailer by the military. There should be a data plate riveted onto the driver's side forward portion of the tongue a-frame, at least that's where it was when I had one.

No idea about the background of your trailer, but I like it. The extra 2 feet in the bed is nice, plus all the extra storage on the tongue and side.

With the bigger size, makes me think you'll need brakes on it if used with a heavy load. I'm thinking of that on our M101 CDN because it's pretty heavy when full -- and you've got the carrying capacity to load even more.

I'm going with the M101A1 frame with homebuilt box and fenders.

Either way I like it.....looks tough as hell...

Wow, that was on Ebay a few years ago. I had the winning bid but the owner and I could not work out the delivery. We were 400 miles apart and our schedules didn't work out. He was nice about me backing out but I didn't feel like waiting 6 to 8 weeks to get it. Oh well. It was in Southern California at the time. Not sure what you paid for it but the price was very good back then too. You have a nice looking setup BTW. I thought it looked like a M101A1 frame but I think the Pioneer trailer is right on. I attached some pics of my new trailer and then my Hijack is over. Looking forward to seeing your mods. I had some fun things in mind for it.

I would swear that earlier last year that exact trailer was for sale right here in Southern California. The 10L water cans, spare mounted up front, ammo can on the tongue and everything seem to match.

guys, i'm sure it is the same trailer. I found it online, contacted the seller and he said he still had it. I made a offer, he accepted. Luckily for me, a co-worker had taken a harley to SoCal to sell and was within 40 miles of the seller. He picked it up and towed it all the way back.

I am not very familiar with the ins and outs of do it yourself mods...but I will research here for a bit and then make a decision on what i will do. I know I would like to make a lid, and change the hubs or axles to match the 5x5 pattern on my Jeep JK
