1990 4Runner Moonroof

My moon roof no longer opens and closes with the motor. THe motor works but the gear that spins the cable is worn. Does anyone know how I can replace the cable and gear without replacing the whole unit?

Is this something that is better left to the factory? Does anyone have a diagram from a manual on the componets and installation procedure?

The detailed instructions on the procedure would be in the Factory service manual. Once you have A real FSM there is nothing you can't do repair wise.
