1st Gen Montero Question

I have started thinking about buying an older truck and selling the DII. While I love the Rover, and it has been 100% reliable for me, I am tired of having a car payment.

I've always like the 1st gen Montero in both LWB and SWB form, I've read a lot of threads on here and they appear to be capable, reliable and affordable.

My one question:

Can I tow my boat with a V6 model? Its an older "hot rod" jet boat that weighs about 2500lbs including the trailer, its not heavy by any means. The Rover even with its scant 180hp pulls it just fine.

Iirc the gen one v6 hp is possibly less than 180hp but IMHO capable of towing that. I wouldn't get a 2 door if I were towing that though simply because it's so small.

The 2.6 I-4 is def not sufficient to tow it though.
