I have been wanting to do a trailer build for a little over a year, mainly since I sold my Willys 1944 Bantam trailer.

So I finally got to ordering parts and today got the axle done and the main frame done.

I plan to make it modular as i need a flatbed utility trailer but also want a box for camping so the camping box will be bolt on to the main frame.

I will update this thread as more progress happens.

Unfortunately I only had time to get the VIN, AAA said they could not finish the process so back to DMV on tuesday for me to get plates.

DMV had no issues with the coupler.

the DMV don't give a ********...

they leave 'dat carp up to da LEO's discretion...

likely a non issue, unless U leave yer junk back 'dere in 'da 20 car pile up. :p

I plan to have a safety cable that connects the tongue to the other side of the coupler in addition to the standard X safety chains to the bumper.

Debating about just throwing a tack weld on the nuts also to prevent them from ever coming lose.

So project was on hold while my Jeep got a new engine.

I think I am going to go a offroad teardrop / roof tent hybrid trailer with the kitchen and eating area inside and sleeping upstairs when folded out. I will also be able to sleep on the ground if bad weather does not allow us to open the top.
It will be made out of wood with some steel tubing to make the walls strong.
