Default my '93 Chevy 1/2 ton 2wd shorty

This is going to be my backup daily driver/ weekend beach base camp. It's a basic Tiara conversion, 4.3 v6, 130K. It was a gift from a friend who didn't have room for it due to city ordinances. It has a yet-undiagnosed fuel problem (fuel pump or regulator), needs tie rods, tires, and basic maintenance. With 235's it just fits under my garage door.

    Plans:
    make it safe and reliable
de-90's the interior (remove carpet and make more camping-ready)
hidden receiver hitch up front (maybe a brush guard/bicycle rack)
Extended rear bumper (to protect tire carrier and mount hi-lift jack)
canopy or pop-up for shade at the beach

Fuel pumps and fuel injectors are very common failures on those TBI vans.People never change the fuel filters on them often enough and it makes the pump work harder and then it forces the dirt into the injectors.
If it starts (after sitting) and then dies after a few moments of running it is most likely that it is injectors (it has two) and or plugged exhaust. I just repaired a 1995 4.3 V6 that had that exact problem. After driving for sometime with the check engine light on the bad injectors plugged/melted the exhaust (it was the cat converter and the muffler). If you remove the O2 sensor and it stays running the exhaust is plugged. If it never starts it can be the fuel pump in the gas tank. If its the pump make sure you replace the main fuel filter and the strainer sock with a new one while the tank is out. It is good insurance to just replace the tank pump with a new one because, it is not IF it is going to fail it is WHEN. They ALL go bad sometime and it is cheaper to replace it before it fails then having it die on you and then having it towed. Good luck with it.
