To follow up with this mine leaks a bit at the 2" threads where it screws into the plastic jug. It's not coming out of the breather hole on the actual MFC, just appears to be leaking through the threads somehow.

I don't want to put any teflon tape or pipe dope on it because I don't what it contaminating my fuel, so it looks like I'm back to the drawing board. Might just buy the 30 dollar spout.

today i've tried to build the spout... however, i liked KaiserM715's idea to build it from nylon materials vs pvc, as nylon is tough and resistant to most oils, gasoline, etc...

i picked up the parts he's listed:
    http://www.tractorsupply.com/-2109258
    http://www.tractorsupply.com/-2111035

these parts work, however the barb from this list requires a bigger diameter hose to be used on it, therefore the hose doesn't fit a car's gas tank...
the reducer bushing from the list also has twice as much threading than the mfc needs, so you won't be able to screw your spout all the way in the mfc...

however when assembled these parts don't leak whatsoever, and hey it's nylon

I have to use a funnel along with this spout. I would like to have an option that bypasses the funnel, but haven't had time to investigate it. The upside to this version with the funnel is that the fill time is much faster. I was able to dump 5 gallons in about 30 seconds.

Whoa nice! Using mine it takes about 5 minutes to do the 5 gallons. I get bored and tired while doing it!

As for the leaking through the threads, I've found that if you're pouring fast enough the air sucking inward stops all leaks. It ain't perfect but I'm satisfied. I wouldn't mind a 30 second fill time, but I use it so rarely I don't really care.

Default all vinyl spout new version

ok so here goes the ultimate (imo) version of the spout... the spout parts are nylon and therefore very durable, especially as far as diesel, gas and oils go

    parts:
from Tractor Supply SKU 2109258 Green Leaf Nylon Reducer Bushing, 2 in. MPT x 1 in. FPT http://www.tractorsupply.com/-2109258
from Tractor Supply SKU 2108854 Green Leaf Nylon Straight Adapter, 1 in. MPT x 3/4 in. Barb http://www.tractorsupply.com/-2108854
from Lowe's or Home Depot 1' x 5/8" Clear Vinyl Tubing

    put it all together!
note, that adapter's diameter is 3/4" and the tubing is 5/8", yet those are the parts which we attach together... however, since the sizes are slightly incompatible on paper, forcing the tubing to go on the adapter does the trick beautifully... it will take some effort, but in the end we end up with a very tight connection which doesn't require a clamp and doesn't leak whatsoever

the whole spout cost is under $7, 5 gals go through it in under a minute and you don't need a funnel or anything else to have it working
    here's the end result:

Default Scepter Strap for Easy Pouring

I have something else in the works that will tie this all together. I will post it up later.

Ok. So, I saw this on another website and didn't want to pay the $30 for it. I knew I had some 2" webbing in my gear and I own a sewing machine. So this is what I came up with. Quick and easy to make and maybe cost me $2 bucks.

Thanks for the links to Tractor Supply for the pieces needed. Great alternative to a $50 spout.....I ended up ordering from same parts from ruralking.com, as there are no TSC's in my area.

    ....snip......
The biggest flow limiters are the small diameter tubing that has to fit down into the fuel tank filler neck and the relatively low pressure of fuel delivery from a 5 gallon can. In Toyota FJCs and 4Runners the fuel tank inlet's intial neck ID is 1". I have been using the Scepter diesel spouts which end in a 1" tube that fits snugly into the truck's inlet neck and dumps fuel much faster than the unleaded gas smaller diameter tubes. (PS: for grins I changed the Scepter diesel filler tube's flange gasket to Viton)

I know that the idea is to save monye with a non-scepter solution but maybe you don't have to use the small diameter tubing?
