Maybe I am being a stickler... but generally the snorkel 'head' fits below the roof line. I know its not the one meant for this model, but I think its a bit awkward looking. Sorry I've been told I am too honest sometimes.

But for reference, here is my 4runner.

I agree. If you're in that deep, you've got other problems!
This was pretty much my only option at this point, either this or make a really hoakie one out of drainage tubing. (which I have actually seen people do)
I may be able to trim it down an inch or two. Oh well, too late now!

I'm wondering if the snorkel for the third gen 4runners would work. Same side air box, similar roof height, etc. I'll measure Mr. Leary's snorkel tomorrow (99 4runner)

Nope. Monty fender flare has more angle then the 4runner.

    Looking good!

Gotta love how we Montero owners, poorly suported by the after market, get innovative in doing what we can with what we've got. Sometimes I feel that we're the illegitimate offspring of a Martha Stewart, Macgyver one night stand.

You're snorkel intake hovering above the roof line doesn't look bad to me. Especially if you're considering a roof basket or roof lights that'll even out the profile.

    Nice job.

The intake looks fine besides, if it isn't above the roofline then how are you supposed to submerge the vehicle entirely?
