This is a dumb question, but when is a good time to camp at pismo dunes? Any particular season when it is not so busy?

Doug,
It's good to see your stuff again. Somehow, we go on a lot of different trips together. My bro has a '99, 7.3 PSD truck similar to yours and he likes it a lot. It's a good vintage. He has only had to rebuild the 6 speed manual a couple times and virtually no other woes.
We leave for our Pacific Rim Volcano Tour on Oct. 1st. I hope nothing 'BLOWS' while we're there. Nah, not a chance.....is there?
By the way, do you know Frank 'Gabby' Hayes who lives above Big Bear Lake and works on the F.S. trails up there?
regards, as always, jefe

why do you put your zj on a trailer?
i have trailered my XJ on a 20ft trailer, but i want to set it up to flat tow. i don't want the additional tongue weight with my camper on. i figure flat towing will eliminate the tongue weight. also my 20ft trailer is a bit long/bulky
fear of death wobble while in tow?
sweet rigs BTW

Not on a holiday weekend and pretty much not from Memorial Weekend until Labor Day Weekend.
Gabby teases me about my Black ZJ every chance he gets. We've known each other for 10 years.
I use a trailer for the following reasons:
There is zero wear and tear on the Jeep’s tires, steering, suspension and/or drivetrain parts.
I have seen many rigs get to the trailhead or get home with broken parts from flat towing.
I can ALWAYS get my junk home no matter the condition of the rig.
I carry two trailer spare tires and extra hubs/bearings, etc. The trailer will get to the trailhead and home.
Trailer tires are a lot cheaper than big offroad tires.
I have towed 12 vehicles on the trailer so far. Some mine and some belonging to others. I can legally tow green sticker vehicles/buggies. Only street licensed vehicles can be flat towed.
I can haul extra gear on the trailer that won't fit in the camper or Jeep. (lots of firewood)
I can haul my ATVS on the trailer.
I have brakes on both of the axles on the trailer. Most folks that flat tow do not use braking systems on the toad. 1 ton truck braking systems are not designed to stop the weight of a truck, camper and 5,000# vehicle.
I can back my trailer up. The trailer never has front tire binding issues on dirt like I have witnessed with flat towing.
I can store all my outside stuff in camp on the trailer. I have a gear box mounted on the trailer to safely store all the chains, binders, straps, etc when the vehicle is not on the trailer.
With the TC on I can see my trailer tires in my rear view mirrors. Flat towing I would only be able to see the rear wheels of the Jeep unless turning.
