    Default stumbled upon something interesting......

I'm not entirely sure if linking to this is ok or not, didn't see it specifically mentioned in the site rules so if it is not ok feel free to delete this. So i was browsing craigslist looking at 80's and 100's like i tend to do often(though i won't be purchasing a cruiser for about a year and a half) and i stumbled upon this http://saltlakecity.craigslist.org/ctd/2254707382.html way out of my price range and though it seems legit it's still questionable, best i can figure is someone moved here from out of country and brought it with them. Anyway i figured if it was legit someone here would be finding more out about it in a hurry.

Doesn't a non-conforming vehicle have to be 25 years old or older to import it into the US and register it?

I'd certainly want to see the import paperwork. It would help if the current owner managed to register the vehicle in Utah. Maybe this truck was used at a mine to transport workers on private property, so the vehicle could be imported without meeting the EPA and NHTSA standards -- just a thought.

From what i understand exceptions to that rule are if you were living outside of the country and purchased the vehicle then brought it with you when moving to the states. Also i believe you can manage if you own a home in the country the vehicle was purchased in as well, Jeremiah Proffitt of proffitt's cruisers has a 2009 70 series pickup that he apparently managed to get imported and licensed after acquiring property in Guatemala (according to an article in 4WD Toyota owner last year) , and i've seen many old JDM and aussie 40 series that have been in the states for years that were brought in by US service members that purchased them while stationed in those countries. Either of those 2 options were my first guesses as to how it ended up here. Also though it is SLC craigslist the add says it's in Hailey Idaho

I met the owner of this 2009 model. He said it took a lot of sweat, patience, paperwork, and money.
