rack for tall camper shell/canopy

So I have a 2000 cummins dodge, and just bought a used canopy for the back. The canopy is taller than the cab by about 7". I know i can put a rack on the canopy, but I want to be able to carry a 12' porta-bote and a 17' canoe.

Does anyone know of a way to put a rack on the roof of the cab that would be the same height as the rack on the canopy? It would also help if it didn't look totally stupid, or was removable for when I'm not hauling stuff.

I ran i search but couldn't find anyone with a tall canopy and a rack on the cab.

This works, but it takes some effort to get them loaded. I used standard Yakima fake rain gutters mounted to the shell (should have used the side mounts to lower the rack a bit). I don't know how you could get the cab mounts as high as the shell without custom-building something.

I made this for my truck, very strong with brackets inside the shell for support.
