Trailer Axle

I am in the process of planning my trailer build and was curious if anyone has ever used or thought of using a standard Tacoma rear axle for a trailer? I was thinking that since I already have a set of leafs and shocks, the bolt pattern is the same plus it provides a spot for a spare 3rd and axles without having to use up cargo space. With it also being the same track width as the truck it should be able to go where the truck goes and tow easily as well. Whats your guys thoughts??

Plenty of people do it... it'll work just fine. Kinda a ghetto way to do a trailer axle if ya ask me, but thats just my opinion. From a technical standpoint, its a fair amount of extra weight you dont need, and the extra moving parts... but in that respect, its a good place to store 'extras' for your truck. :D
