New coffee mug, Cabelas 50th anniversary edition

Cabelas has two nice identical mugs, with the 50th anniversary one being a tad cheaper.
Must be a marketing ploy, but both are 304 stainless steel and hold 16 oz.
I ordered the 50th edition one, and it showed up yesterday, and seems to be very nice.

This will be my new camping mug.
Right now I have the blue enameled ones, and they do not keep coffee hot for very long.

For an inexpensive yet high quality mug, look at the Kans double walled stainless mugs. Last I checked, they were $10/ea, and being double walled, they keep your coffee hot for quite a while.

For a travel mug (lid), the double walled piece that Paul @ Equipt is selling pretty much kicks a**. Marisa and I used to fight over who got to use it - so now we have two of them. The mornings are much more peaceful now.

The British believe you should only drink your tea while stationary and the Germans apparently think beverages are slightly smaller in circumference than a soda can.

Back on topic - I do love the double wall thing. I chaperoned a field trip in 89 degrees yesterday and my nalgene full of ice was all water by 11am - the ice in my Nissen Thermos was clinking away at the end of the day!

I've got a fat-bottomed mug like that I got from West Marine on clearance because it is missing the lid. Even without the lid it keeps coffee hot a long time.

Just a side note, but the inverted-funnel shape keeps the coffee from sloshing out. The waves hit the slopped sides and fall back on themselves, canceling out any wave motion.

Do yours have a donut-shaped neoprene pad on the bottom? I've found that mine pulls a little suction on most any flat surface.

I can put it on the dash or floor and don't really have to worry about it sliding or spilling (even without the lid). At least during commuting and OTR travel. On rough trails it might be a different story. But then I would be in relaxed mode and have my morning coffee by the fire before getting on the trail...

Having said that, I also have an Aladdin Migo double-walled stainless travel mug that does fit in cup holders. I mostly use it when in a vehicle.

Yes, this has the non slip bottom on it so it will not slide around on your dash.

I got it mainly for camping though.
I drink coffee at work, but not on my short commute.
