    Default pistol decision - 9mm

I expect to soon be on the market for an auto 9mm. My plans for it are target shooting, concealed license and personal defense, so relatively small size and light weight are important. I'm going with 9mm for control and to make practice shooting less $$.

I'm thinking one of the three:
    Ruger SR9c
    http://www.ruger.com/products/sr9c/models.html
    Glock 19
    http://www.glock.com/english/glock19.htm
    Springfield XD
    http://www.xdpistols.com/
    (mostly considering the last two).

    Any opinions?

I also agree with Tacodoc with the Glock, I love mine. But for the money I also really enjoy shooting my Taurus.

I've owned a Ruger, and XD9, and neither compare to the durability, simplicity, and shootability of the Glock.

From that list I'd choose the Glock.

I do love my Sig's, but you need to be committed to enough practice to get the DA/SA trigger action down.

When my friend and I went shooting awhile back with our Glock 21SFs (45 ACP) he also brought along a new 19 I shot, I liked it as well.

    For me it is Glock.
Lotta Glock haters out there, but rent some at a range and see how you like them.
I like Glock handguns out of all the others on the market.
They just fit my hand better, and I like the light weight, easement of breakdown, and easy to clean.

Also a lot of info on guns is in the Sportsman's section here.

    Glock.
I've been carrying a Glock 23 (same size as 19) for 3 years in a Comp-Tac M-Tac holster on a good belt. The gun and a spare mag conceal with just a t shirt and I'm 5'8, 170lbs.
I had an XD 40 but I traded it on the Glock after sending the XD back to the factory and it still not functioning right.
After you get your gun and ccw, take a good defensive pistol course. Training is more important than gun choice in my opinion.

I have an XD9 Tactical with a 5" barrel. It's wonderfully ergonomic, and having owned it for a while, I absolutely appreciate the grip safety, loaded chamber indicator, and cocked indicator.

Much more comforable in my hands than a glock, and I definitely prefer the sighting system.

I have 5 magazines and all are flawless. (ordered mine during the magazine promo last year.) I've got about 500 rounds thru the gun, with zero malfunctions right out of the box. It's eaten every type of ammo I've thrown at it.

I love that I'm going to be able to install a weapon light when I have the chance, and definitely like that I can choose any light I wish. (some guns can only take certain lights on their rail. Sig, maybe?)

My wife considers the XD to be very comforable too. She's an excellent shooter with it.

I just bought an SR9 and all I can say is every one of the haters who say they are clunky have obviously never picked one up. In fact it was so tight that it wouldn't shoot some lighter hand loads. It was just too tight. Factory ammo has never been an issue though.
