Hooray for the Eco-Boost engines, the technology really appeals to me.

This one looks more car like and has the longer front overhang.
That is more or less the definition of a crossover I believe, a blend between car and small SUV. They already have the Edge, this seems to put them in a position to compete against themselves. Seems silly to me.

I prefered the Escape as a small SUV.

The Escape has always been a CUV. Ford's CD2 platform is based on Mazda's GF platform which was used for the Mazda 626.

It looks like an edge/crv/rav4/forester/almost every other CUV. Nothing against the idea of CUVs, but the market has enough of them. Should've kept the boxier design and fluffed it up a bit. . .then again i'd never buy one, since they don't have an open bed option. . .

Ford has released undisguised photos of the 2013 Escape as part of its debut at the LA Auto Show. Engine options include a 2.0L turbo four cylinder with 235 hp and 250 lb-ft. Depending on price, the Subaru Forester 2.5XT may have some serious competition once you swap in full time all wheel drive.

    I said RAV4 earlier, now I'm thinking a bastard of an M-class Mercedes and a RAV4.

Bloggers for Edmunds Inside Line got a chance to drive new Escapes with the 1.6L and 2.0L Ecoboost gas turbos. Conclusion: Get the 2.0L. Now the 2.0L is rated to produce 240 hp and 270 ft lb of torque, and still gets an EPA rating of 21 city/28 highway with AWD. The 2.0L Escape also can tow 3500 lb.

Here's a photo gallery provided by Ford showing the new Escape on the streets of San Francisco.
