ridding tire smell

i keep my spare in the cap. which is getting camperized. after 6 months, the spare tire still reeks of "new rubber".

Q: is there anything i can wash it with to elimenate the odor?

What size is the spare? I have an old 31" with no new tire smell that I would gladly trade you for a 33x10.5

scrub the tire all over with some simple green and a brush and rinse it off. Then stick it in the sun and flip it over once a week. Let it sit in the sun for a while and it will off-gas quickly. Not sure how quick it happens, but it is definitely less than one month which is how long I had a tire in the sun. Perhaps you can flip it over every day and see what happens after a week of sunny days.
