Bear Grylls Clothing?

I see this guy's name popping up on different forums. I don't have cable TV, so I don't know anything about the guy except for that he's supposed to be some kind of survivalist. Has anybody bought anything from his line of clothing? I should have asked this question a little earlier. Went to his website and ordered a shirt and a pair of pants and hope that I won't be dissapointed. Not really inexpensive stuff.

I have one of his catalogs, and the pants look a lot like the Extreme Adventure Pants that I buy from Railriders.

The Bear clothing looks to be pretty good quality as well.
I am very happy with the above pants from Railriders, you might check them out too.
Wearing a pair right now while at work.

I am planning on grabbing a pair of his version of tough adventure pants for my next canyoneering trip. he prices seem decent especially on the down jackets.

I just purchased two pairs of the Crag Hoppers Outback pant and really like them. They are the manufacture of the Bear Grylls stuff. All made in China. We will see how they hold up this summer.

I received the merchandise and wasn't too impressed. The shirt and pants run a bit small (my belly's grown). The quality is okay but not worth the price.

All of the BG stuff is very successful. We can't keep the BG Gerber stuff in stock. That said, it's all pretty average in terms of quality. Not terrible, but not really super. Walmart killed it with the BG line over the holidays. I forget the numbers, but they sold something like 500,000 BG knives over the holidays.

I hate to admit it, but I did buy the BG machete and I am impressed with the blade for the money.

I haven't seen the clothing anywhere, but I would be willing to check it out if I found a retailer.

I am very impressed as well as coworkers with the knife I bought a month or less back.
Very high quality, but it is made in China, not Oregon like I thought it would be.
The knife is still very high quality.

I have read that the clothing is hard to size, it is always off some, and I for one hate having to send back clothing that does not fit right the first time.

Even our sales rep with Gerber says the BG line is not as high quality as some of their other products. According to him, it was designed to appeal to a certain demographic. It was a means for them to sell lower priced, lower quality products with a bit more broad range appeal.

Looking at the blade though on the BG I would put it on the same level as my two Gerber Coverts.

As far as clothing though, I have been very impressed with the Railriders stuff I have bought over this past year.
Very anxious to see how the insect shirts work out this summer, as most skeeter/fly repellent on me only makes the bugs laugh more as they feast on me.

It really is smart marketing to jump on the popularity of BG. Gerber had been losing market share to Sog and Kershaw for a few years now. I forget the exact story, but they secured manufacturing with a company that could provide less expensive product and putting the BG name on the product made it more attractive than making a separate Gerber line. I'm certainly not complaining. You could put the BG logo on a rock and it would sell.
