I purchased this M416 trailer as a starting point for a camping tent trailer. As luck would have it, I was able to pick up a Land Rover Sankey Wide track a few weeks later that matches my rover. Being that my wife doesn't think I need a trailer let along two, one needs to go. After several near sales I decided to do all the maintenance and cleanup on this one so it is ready to go. My intention was to disassemble, clean and address any issues I saw. So this is what I have.
1965 M416 trailer. Tub and fenders were removed and inspected. Two small holes were patched and welded. Drains are open and working. Underside of tub and fenders were coated with rubberized undercoating. Inside of tub joints were coated with brushable seam sealer. Tub and fenders were repainted flat black and re-installed with new hardware. Original military wiring is intact and marked. New wiring (standard flat 4) and lights installed. Chassis was cleaned. All surface rust was sanded and the entire chassis was painted. Grease fitting were removed and cleaned and re-greased. Both hubs were disassembled, cleaned and bearing repacked with grease. Hand brake cleaned and put in working order. Brand new tires installed. Trailer also comes with spare military tire and rim.
