New Camp Chef Everest 2 Burner Stove

I might try this stove since it's the same size as their regular Mountain Series stoves but the burners are 20k btu's each. Just wondering if anyone on here has this and what your thoughts are. It's new this season so I didn't find too many actual reviews of it online.

Very similar to my Denali I bought last year minus the grille in the middle, looks nice.

My neighbor has a Camp Chef that gets used regularly for the last 7 years and it still works like new, worth every penny if you have the room.

Finally had a chance to take a look at one up close. The burner seems nice enough, I'm just not impressed with the body of the stove. It seems so flimsy and the thin (aluminum) panels look like they would be easily dented. Even the display model has a couple of dents on it already. It appears that most other brands are made of this thin material as well. Maybe I got used to my Brinkmann stove I bought years ago from Costco. The metal on it is so thick compared to the others. Unfortunately, I don't see my current Brinkmann stove on their site.....And there's nothing wrong with my current stove, it's just a little bigger than most 2 burner stoves and wanted to see smaller alternatives. But for now, I guess I'll stick with my Brinkmann. I'd rather keep a reliable, sturdy stove than risk it with a smaller flimsy one.

I'll have to check into that Stansport you linked Jim.

If size is a concern, and your Brinkmann is too large, you probably won't like the Stansport. I have a stainless steel Brinkmann that I like a lot, and the Stansport is somewhat larger. The reason I bought the Stansport was for the 25K btu burners. This thing puts out more heat than the gas range in my kitchen at home. I think the Brinkmann has 10K btu burners. It's not that 10K won't do the job, but it takes longer. I guess I'm just a bit impatient. When I'm hungry, I want to eat NOW.

Jim,
I finally had a chance to take a look at that Stansport...Not bad and 50,000 BTU's is crazy! Plus, it is smaller than my Brinkmann. The Stansport is 24"x14" whereas my Brinkmann is 27 1/2"x15"....Found a link to a pic/description of mine too: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/brinkmann-magnum-max-2-burner-propane-stove.aspx?a=190822 I really like the fact that the windscreen extends into place when the lid is opened. Why don't other stoves do this?
I don't know what part of the country you're in, but in my area one of our local chain stores currently has the Stansport on sale for $49.89. I'm not positive, but I think that may be less than I paid 2+ years ago.

You apparently have a different Brinkmann that I do. Mine is smaller than my Stansport.

Which chain is it? I would love to buy this grill but no local places near me sell it.

Thanks

Anybody going to Bimart soon? Would love one of these, I'd be willing to paypal money to cover the cost of one of these plus shipping.

Thanks

I got a camp chef weekender to haul around in my trailer and like it a lot. It's beefy, has 2 30,000 btu burners, and the lid is pretty stout--you could dent it, but it's not as flimsy as others. It comes with legs but I just put it on the top of my kitchen setup.

I found it only for $80 with shipping (here's the link: http://homestoreproductsonline.com/camp-chef-weekender-2burner-stove-p-144.html )

I also got the big cast iron griddle, and the single burner barbeque--it works pretty great.

Only thing I didn't get initially but have just added is a couple of heat diffusers to spread the flame out evenly--I'd add them to your order for when wanting simmer something.

I think all the stove manufacturers have changed the lines in the last few years. I bought a brunton a month ago and thought it was awful! It was quite small for one of the stoves and appeared all stainless steel. The igniter did not work and although it had a knob that indicated you were increasing and decreasing gas supply it pretty much had 1 temperature setting, on or off. I wanted to cook something somewhat slow and was really annoyed. Luckily I do live in the land of Bi-mart and I returned it and got my money back.

I have had mixed experience with Stansport products. They are usually very reasonably priced but that is reflected in the quality. Their products often have burrs, rough edges, misaligned this or crooked that. These minor finish issues seldom prevent the product from performing the task it was built for. In their favor my parents bought me a stansport dome tent when I was a kid and I used it all the way into college. It just wouldn't die! I finally got rid of it when a crazy buck dear decided to attack it and ripped a hole in the side.

I just went to "Wholesale Sport Outdoor Outfitters" in bend. I don't live in bend and this was my first trip to this store. It reminded me a lot of Sportsman's Warehouse like the one in Salem or Boise. I was quite impressed with the store's big selection and friendly staff. I talked to one of the employees about stoves and he recommended the Camp Chef line. He said they are much better built than the Coleman. I bought the Everest from the mountain line and the reviews of it online seem really good. I will post back after this weekend when I give it a good 3 days worth of use.

It's been ages since I used a canister stove. I'm curious; how does the flame/heat out put behave as the tank gets near empty? I had a backpacker's propane/butane mix stove about 20 years ago, and it drove me nuts as the tank got low. But it did not use the bigger propane tanks these use.
