    Default Canadian Rockies, June-July, 2007

No, not Canada, but Beartooth Pass, Wyoming, which is one of my favorites of the trip thus far.

I never thought I'd do an in-progress expedition thread, but since I picked up my first laptop a little over a year ago, it is now possible. So, during brief stops in the action, I find myself wanting to get a little Internet access, and I've updated my site as well.

Anyway, long story short, I am back up in the Canadian Rockies (and currently in Jasper) a little less than two years after my last adventure up here. Once again, I'm having a great time seeing all the world-class scenery. I'm 10 days into the 30-day trip. This time around, I have enjoyed the company of friends, Rick Dunn, and his wife. They're only taking two weeks of vacation and will be heading back south in a couple of days, so I'll be solo from that point.

As for updates, I won't be doing much writing, but picture updates can be seen at the following link. Off to get more pictures . . .

    Awesome photos so far Darren!

That's no surprise to those of us who've seen your stuff though. But updating from the road? Isn't that really cool & bizarre? Can a cell phone be in your future too?

I'm glad to see you're having such a great time on your trip. Hopefully the weather will be more agreeable this time around. Sorry we missed making contact last week. Hope the journey continues to go well.

Darren, you're practically in my back yard. I know Jasper and the David Thompson west country like the back of my hand. I strongly encourage taking a stroll up to Miette, as well as Mt. Edith Cavell. The alpine meadows at that elevation in the summer are breathtaking. I gather you've been through the Columbia Icefields and Sunwapta Pass on the way to Jasper?

Can't wait to see more shots. I've taken them all but I'm certain your's will be far better. Don't know your plans but any chance of a get-together with the Alberta gang?

    Good luck and drive safe.

No doubt about it. This is super crazy! loaded my site on my laptop just prior to leaving so I could do this. That turned out to be a great idea! As for a cell, it is actually quite possible that may happen this year. Baby steps, though!

Red, after my last trip here, I feel like I know the area like the back of my hand, too! I went to Miette on my last trip, though it didn't do to much for me. Cavell, on the other hand, rocks the house! Definitely one of my favorite mountains. I added a couple more pictures to my page, and it is one of them. I've been to all of the tourist spots in the area, plus many different ones as well.

As for meeting up, my schedule is open to say the least. These long days up north leave some extra time, especially if it's not overcast, like today. I plan on checking Internet access pretty freqently (roughly every day or every other). My sunrise and sunset times are always reserved, if not the middle of the days, though anyone is certainly welcome to join if this kind of stuff is of interest.

    Darren,

Are you coming through Calgary? I'm in Toronto right now but should be back home soon.
