Interesting Thread, However
While you ponder the below response, remember during such a happening there will be those who will do any thing to get what you have! The following are but a few of the real world issues one would face!
First, there will be a need to fuel such a vehicle and it's doubtful any fuel stops would be open and operating for your benefit. How would you cover this important issue?
Yep, lots of parts in those heaps of exploded and burned buildings and contents that used to be auto parts stores, just dig em out and hope they fit or work. Would it be easy or?
Tires would be an issue because of all the broken glass twisted steel and whatever else might find its way on to the roadway and even off road. Got it covered where the tire meets the road or what used to be the road?
Reality, within 3 to 5 days of the happening most major metro areas will have run out of fuel, food and any other item for that matter.
Rural and remote areas will be unwelcome areas for all but locals.
In desperate times people do desperate and un-speakable things to survive and you might even look like a good meal to some so which truck to have really seems so un-important. Yes, they will fight over the light/dark meat early on then soon after that light/dark becomes so un-important and in a pile.
Any truck you might happen upon that runs and has fuel would be a good start, however you would need to take it! Got what it takes?
Lucky if you can find a live horse, mule or donk to haul your survival gear, ammo, guns or whatever else considered important at a time of great suffering, then you have to feed it or eat it then carry your own s___ which will you be able to do?
Just some thoughts of what to look forward too!
