Default Rust in the fuel tank

Hey I just got a 33 gallon safari-equip fuel tank but after sitting in customs for a couple of weeks this this has started to form some rust on the inside side of the tank. Is it really going to effect things or will it work its way out of the system? Before you ask I already tired to call Lucky8 (where I got the tank) but they are not open today.

Greg he has the tank its not being held. If your truck is diesel I'd say pour a quart in an slosh it around to rinse it out before install and forget about it.On a petrol truck with todays ethanol blended fuels I would probably try to find some sort of coating for the inside-like what Eastwood sells for restorations http://www.eastwood.com/gas-tank-sealer-kits.html

. I take it you didn't get the stainless version ?

I do have the tank now and I am wishing I had got the SS tank, but it was ordered for me before I could ask for SS. Not to mention it was built wrong. Im just going to pay someone to fix the tank and then have it coated inside.

I had a similar problem with an Australian tank that apparently rusted inside during shipping. My dealer boiled the tank and coated it. As a bonus, he powdercoated the outside. I haven't had a problem with it since.
