I havent been here in a while and just joined the suburban club. This is my unicorn. I looked pretty hard for 6-8 months. Its a 2001 2500 4x4 8.1 with only 93k miles. I posted in the fullsize pics but figured I should throw it in here too. Plans are simple for now. Full size roof basket with removable ski/rod rack, custom aluminum floor gun vault/storage platform. I will be adding a built in power inverter to the back. I already bought a nice airbed which I slept on during the drive back from picking it up. For now Im putting 285/75 r16s on her with plans for 35s down the road. It will also be getting a custom bumper with winch, dual battery setup, and custom rear bumper with tire mount. Soon she'll be ready for desert trips, camping, weekend matches, and shark fishing from the beach.

Nice finds on the 8.1s, gents. I didn't see a single one when looking for a 2500 'Burb. Bought the 2005 with 6.0 and low mileage and it's working pretty darned well with the horse trailers.

Thanks I found a bunch of 8.1 2500s while looking but they all had high miles, ratty interiors, or a liftgate. This one ticked all the boxes. Barndoors, low miles, spotless cloth (dont like leather) interior (it will be used as a soccer mom mobile occasionally) 8.1, and a g80 in the rear.

Been dialing it in with some odds and ends mechanically and got it all detailed up. Everyone is impressed how clean it is for a gmt400.
Fresh 16x7 ford steelies and some Grabbers look great. I like this truck...but probably going to sell sometime soon. Still want that squarebody...

1992 Chevy Suburban sas'd coils and 35" BFG KO2'S originally was a TBI 350 but over the winter we swapped out the 350 in favor of a 6.5L Turbo Diesel for better towing and a bit better fuel milage.

OMG I love this setup, exactly what I want to do on my Suburban. How did you attach the platform? I spoke to Rhino Rack and they said my factory bars would not be suitable for the Pioneer Platform, roof box, awning attachment and solar panel. Please more detailed photos!

Some pics from over the summer. Funny, we use this truck quite a bit but I rarely take any pics of stuff we do with it, compared to our Cruiser at least. Still love this ol beast of burden.

@upcruiser what towing mirrors did you buy for your Burb? I have an '04 as well. Link to website/page? Thanks!
