Often I take chili dogs as a camping meal, how about you?

What do you use?

Beef franks or cheap hot dogs

Canned chili or homemade

Cheese

Buns

How about some recipes?

When it's a big crowd of kids and adults I do homemade chili and these dogs from Sam's

.
Cheap, beef, frozen, good size, delicious. Onions, pre-shredded extra sharp cheddar cheese, and these buns, also from Sam's

I don't really have a recipe for my chili, other than to say I don't use kidney or lima beans *ick*

I will only use homemade chili, but I agree with the dogs and buns above. Sams does have some good ones. If it is a smaller group then only Nathan's will do.

We just had Johnsonville chili dogs, pork with 'real' Wisconsin cheddar. They were very good, package of 6.

Being from Wisconsin give Nueskes beacon a try. We were in Washington State a few years back and were surprised to it see on a restaurant's breakfast menu for some outrageous price. Be forewarned once you tasted it you'll never eat any other bacon again.

I keep changing brands on the dogs themselves, I do like Nathans Dinner Dogs, but the only place you can get them in Temecula, CA is Ralphs, about $5.00 for a four pack. I'm pretty sold on Ball park buns, Stater Bros. brand chili, no beans, and Kraft 4 mix mexican cheese. Plus a good margarita.

i usually dont do dogs, i usually take brats.

but when i do take dogs it is usually ballpark. i then take some canned cheese (doesn't take up much space), some store brand rolls, and some hormel chili. just basic weiner stuff

but i usually take some good old brats, cooked slowly over a fire. then put in fresh deli sub rolls, topped off with some good spicy brown mustard, chopped onions and peppers, a little ketchup, and if i am up to it, a piece of cheese
